Batemans Bay Bridge Replacement, Utilities & Traffic Staging Design (RMS & John Holland)

Roads and Maritime Services is replacing the Batemans Bay Bridge over the Clyde River. John Holland was announced as the preferred tenderer to design and build the new Batemans Bay Bridge in May 2018. Turnbull Engineering is supporting John Holland by delivering the detailed design and documentation for utilities and traffic staging.

The utilities design involves 3D modelling and coordination of existing and proposed utilities, including specialist designs for electrical, water, sewer, telecommunications and gas service protections and relocations.

The traffic staging design involves the design of temporary roads to allow traffic (including traffic on the Princes Highway) to safely continue through and around construction work areas. The includes design of road alignments, drainage and pavements to RMS standards for several construction stages.

Benefits of the bridge replacement project include improved freight access, reduced traffic delays at the Kings and Princes Highway intersection in peak periods, reduced economic and social impacts by removing the current lift span bridge and remove delays due to bridge openings.

Project value ~$300 million
